CB Luis Dunning (BER) goes #1 overall!

NEW YORK -- The Berlin Blitz drafted Luis Dunning #1 overall in the 2036 draft. The 6' 0" CB fits the team's needs perfectly. Said Blitz general manager: "It's up to us to develop him and get good players around him."

"The great thing about the game of football is, it's a team game," Dunning said on a conference call. "I'm just going to be one piece of the puzzle."

Moore and Nox Mock Draft

Pick 1: Berlin Blitz
Larry Moore: Hugo Knox - C
Known among his teammates as a bit of a goofball, but never in a bad way. The kind that keeps spirits high even when a season goes south. His strength is already good, and he has not even started his professional career. If you go to his tape, you will se he run blocks very well. Pass blocking against professional players makes for a difficult transition from college. But the tape indicates he will do well in that regard. Hard to go wrong with this pick.

Jim Nox: Charles Reichert - CB
This guy understands what it means to be a pro. The guy has gets along with everyone. This guy sticks with his teammates, through thick and thin. With speed like his, he is set up to be one of the best at his position. Educated well. Shows good understanding of the game. Already has a big fanbase of his own. He will be an asset to the franchise.

Pick 2: Birmingham Bulls
Larry Moore: Jose Phillips - G
He will never throw someone else under the bus to save himself. In college, he routinely threw defenders off their feet when blocking them. Watch the tape, this kind is strong. Driving up his value is his ability to block on run plays. Teams need kids who can hold their own against fully grown men. Protects the QB well on pass plays. You can never have enough good pass blockers. He can do what they want. He will deliver results early. He fits a need. End of story.

Jim Nox: Wallace Ybarra - LB
Due to his work ethic, this kid is very coachable. His good natured behavior, even toward opponents have earned him some criticism, but also an awful lot of respect. Finishes tackles. Amazing strength for the position. Makes him versatile, and tells of his high ceiling. Amazing speed for the position. Defensive coordinators dream about having this speed coming of the edge. They would be crazy not to take him here. A great fit, both in terms of what they need and the quality of player they get. This will put a smile on many faces.

Pick 3: San Diego Raptors
Larry Moore: Luis Dunning - CB
This kid puts in the work. Respected for his good behavior on the field. Known for helping out teammates, if they hit a rough patch, whether it is on the field or in their personal lives. Few players will beat him in the forty. Hits ballcarriers low, taking no chances. It is all about fit here. Is there a guy at a position of need, worthy of a pick this high? The answer, obviously, is 'heck yeah'.

Jim Nox: Luis Dunning - CB
This guy understands what it means to be a pro. This is the kind of kid you want to promote the game. Well behaved, loves the game, and respectful. Here you have a guy, who really benefits the atmosphere in the building. Everyone wants to be around him. Ran a great forty. Tackles with good technique. Are there other guys worth picking here? Sure, but none of them fit this well with what they need, and he is a solid talent.

Pick 4: Tampa Bay Sentinels
Larry Moore: Wallace Ybarra - LB
Raised to know the value of hard work. Sportsmanship, love of the sport and respect, is what you get with him. No point in getting to the ball carrier if you cannot take him down. This kid tackles well. That is something teams are looking at. This young man can hold his own in the weight room. And he is strong enough to hold his own on the field as well. Rarely do we call defensive linemen sideline to sideline defenders, but this kid is so fast the term almost applies. Plug a hole in the roster with a great player. That is really what they need to do. This pick does it.

Jim Nox: James Prince - C
Here you have a kid who puts in the work to succeed. Sportsmanship, love of the sport and respect, is what you get with him. Even if he is not the strongest, coaches like his strength. And he has enough of it. Execution in the running game is something coaches have noticed about him. He blocks pretty well. Something that scouts highight is how well he pass blocks. You do not pick him this high if he could not protect the QB. When the available talent fits what you need, there is reason to celebrate. They are getting a great talent who will serve them for many years.

Pick 5: St. Louis Stallions
Larry Moore: Douglas Boettcher - WR
Known for showing up early and staying late. His good natured behavior, even toward opponents have earned him some criticism, but also an awful lot of respect. Rarely drops the ball. If you miss the tackle, you will not catch this kid. Nice body control and fluid routes. Fits the bill, great quality pick, and fills a soft spot on the roster. They should have no qualms here, run to the podium and get your man.

Jim Nox: Douglas Boettcher - WR
Here is a kid who no one doubts will put in the work. He is fundamentally a good kid. You rarely see him commit stupid penalties. Has pro ready catching ability, and that is what you are lookng for if you are going to take a receiver this high. Big plays is what you get with this kid. That speed will make for incredible highlights. Has the elusiveness and the ability to change direction smoothly to punish any lapse in attention from the defense. They need players at the position, and good ones at that. He fits the bill, he is worth the pick. End of story.

Pick 6: London Bulldogs
Larry Moore: Jerrell Gass - DT
The guy has his head on straight. Respected for his good behavior on the field. This is a kid who really contributes to the team spirit and the social cohesiveness on the team. Will shed blocks and occasionally bull rush smaller opponents. More than enough strength to anchor the defensive lineIt is clear from his tape, that he wraps up well on tackles. Do not be afraid to draft a position of need here. This kid is well worthy of a pick this early. Perfect situation for him, and great fit for the team.

Jim Nox: Joseph Hook - LB
Known for showing up early and staying late. His good natured behavior, even toward opponents have earned him some criticism, but also an awful lot of respect. Known for being a bit of a joker in the locker room. but in the good way, everyone smiles when asked about him. Tackles well. Really strong. Will push through blocks. Not exactly a speed rusher, but has plenty of speed for the position. Fill the need with a quality player. Best case scenario here.

Pick 7: Las Vegas Scorpions
Larry Moore: Joseph Hook - LB
This guy understands what it means to be a pro. This is the kind of kid you want to promote the game. Well behaved, loves the game, and respectful. The guy has gets along with everyone. Wraps up well when tackling. Love his strength. He can play everywhere on the line. It is no coincidence he has attracted a lot of attention. Will not have to come off the field for in obvious passing situations. Has enough quickness to pressure Quarterbacks off the edge. He fills a need for them. They will be happy to get him.

Jim Nox: Vincent Dubose - CB
The guy has his head on straight. Here is a kid that can make plays all over the field. His speed will be a great benefit to the defense. He has a well developed tackling technique. Fans might not be on board with what can be framed as a need pick. But trust me once they see this kid play, they will be more than happy.

Pick 8: Trinidad Sharks
Larry Moore: Samuel Moulton - G
A leader on the field and in the locker room. Was among the stronger offensive linemen in college. Run blocking is very different when facing college kids than the full-grown men in the pros. This kid has the skills to do the latter. His pass blocking skills is something teams like about him. Just what the organization needs.

Jim Nox: Ronald Mackay - C
Known for showing up early and staying late. His good natured behavior, even toward opponents have earned him some criticism, but also an awful lot of respect. His love for winning leads him to push himself hard, setting an example for everyone. Has impressed scouts with his strength. Coaches love strength, it gives him a high ceiling. If you go to his tape, you will se he run blocks very well. Pass blocking against professional players makes for a difficult transition from college. But the tape indicates he will do well in that regard. A pick for the future. And if you are in doubt: the future is tomorrow.

Pick 9: Cincinnati Predators
Larry Moore: Charles Reichert - CB
His college coaches talk highly of his work ethic. Known for being a bit of a joker in the locker room. but in the good way, everyone smiles when asked about him. This is a kid who will shoulder any blame. He is so fast. Get him. Put him on the WR1 every week. He will run with the best of them. He is sharp, and that makes him very coachable. He addresses a need for them.

Jim Nox: Olen Adams - WR
His leadership is through the roof. He is on the frontline, always. He plays well with others. He understands there is a reason for each assignment on every play. When you watch him you rarely see him drop the ball. Speed, speed speed! Did I mention Speed? Fill a need, get a quality player, everyone wins! He will fit right in with the pros.

Pick 10: Cologne Coldbloods
Larry Moore: Bernardo Santos - DE
Known for showing up early and staying late. Sportsmanship, love of the sport and respect, is what you get with him. Known among his teammates as a bit of a goofball, but never in a bad way. The kind that keeps spirits high even when a season goes south. He has sufficient strength to not get bulllied on run plays. More than enough speed for the position. This will become evident as he develops. Educated well. Shows good understanding of the game. They gotta be happy to get this guy. Such a talent and he fits their needs. I would imagine the war room is celebrating when they make this pick.

Jim Nox: Daryl Duckworth - WR
Known for showing up early and staying late. He is fundamentally a good kid. You rarely see him commit stupid penalties. Known among his teammates as a bit of a goofball, but never in a bad way. The kind that keeps spirits high even when a season goes south. Speed, speed speed! Did I mention Speed? Nice body control and fluid routes. Solid talent that fits their needs. Really that is all there is to it. Perfect situation. Take the money and run.

Coaching Carousel Predictions.

The offseason is upon us and that means teams are shaking up their coaching staffs. This means that we get to take our annual look at coordinators who could make the leap to become head coaches, and the teams who are likely to poach them.

The prime candidates identified by our experts are:
Gregory Rodriguez - Defensive Coordinator - Cologne Coldbloods
Dennis Baxter - Defensive Coordinator - London Bulldogs
Joseph Livingston - Offensive Coordinator - San Diego Raptors
Robert Tinsley - Offensive Coordinator - Chicago Wolves
Joshua Cox - Defensive Coordinator - Nebraska Plainsmen
Ryan Garcia - Defensive Coordinator - South Beach Sun Devils
Elias Gaylord - Defensive Coordinator - Berlin Blitz
George Cain - Offensive Coordinator - Berlin Blitz

As always, we are prone to wild speculations, so we asked our in-house experts to do a little matchmaking between candidates and teams. Here is what they came up with:

Mary Moore:
George Cain leaves the Blitz to become the head coach for the South Beach Sun Devils.

Darren Francis:
I think the Bulldogs lose Dennis Baxter and I see him heading to South Beach Sun Devils.

Jim Nox:
The Blitz cannot hold on to George Cain. I would like to see him coach the South Beach Sun Devils.

Jeremy Piper:
Dennis Baxter is certainly on the move. That means Bulldogs will need a new coordinator. As for where Baxter ends up? Well, I think South Beach Sun Devils is a good bet.
